3-28-22   THOUGHTS

In God’s word and wisdom, “Living the Good Life” takes on a totally different perspective than is painted by the world.  1John 2:16  says   “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”  CONTENTMENT is a hard word for us to master.  It requires a ruling of our own spirit.  The desire for the “STUFF OF THIS WORLD” is said to lead to wandering and a piercing with grief.   We are encouraged to “fight the good fight of faith, and take hold of eternal life”

1Tim 6:6-16     But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7  For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. 8  If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 9  But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10  For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11  But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. 12  Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.  13   I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14  that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15  which He will bring about at the proper time — He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,  16  who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

Rom 13:14  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
1Cor 10:6  Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved.
Gal 5:17  For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
Gal 5:24  Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Titus 2:12   instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,

My Prayer:
O God, may we see your love in the death and burial and resurrection of the Christ , and learn to be joyfully content.  May our selves be put to death and our spirits mastered.  May we live for the One who died for us.  Teach us the rightness and goodness of enough.  Feed us from Yourself and let us not wander after the world.  May we fight the good fight of faith, and take hold of eternal life.   In the name of Jesus,    Amen.
